   What can we learn from what Paul is telling us?


Bible Verse in Review

{Philippians 4 11:13}

    “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the

circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty, I have

learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry,

whether living in plenty or want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”


Circumstances – What is going on?


• Paul is explaining his struggles to the Philippians to show how to deal with hardships with joy rather

than sadness. (Didn’t believe his conversion/Beaten-Acts 21:30-31/Stoned/Persecuted-Acts 22:22/Ship

Wrecked-Acts 27:41/Bitten by a viper-Acts 28:3)

• He desires that the Philippians will gain confidence from this – To Proclaim the Gospel Fearlessly.

• Paul was making bold proclamations in the middle of Caesars’ realm


Who are the Philippi?

• The Philippians are a colony of Retired Roman Soldiers

• They met when Paul {on his second journey} was church-planting in Acts 16:11-40

• They became friends and they aided Paul when he was in Prison


What can we learn from this?

• Everyone will experience hardships – and if you are a Christ-Follower

• Life isn’t about riches and things – it’s about relationships and Christ

• We gain strength from Him (God) in which to do the things he requires of us


This is a show of where Paul is at mentally as you can see that he is open to sharing his struggles

and blessings with the Church to show them that – it isn’t an end-all when you have problems.

He wants to relate to the reader and the church so we can feel comfortable in our walk with

Christ.


Not even a Chapter before, Paul cautions them to watch out for Dogs and Evildoers and to not be

tempted into sin.


Summarize what you learned:


• Paul sought to share confidence in Christ with us to trust him in all things

• Rejoice in all things – whatever the circumstances

• Even the people we think are the strongest Christians will have hardships not just a select

few

• You can do all things through Him who strengthens you

Our First Full Month Of Pre-Field Ministry

As of today, April 25, 2022, our first full month of pre-field ministry has officially come to an end.  It has been a long month of adjusting to a "new normal", and there is still much adjusting to do; but we have been presently surprised by the amount of support we have received from family and friends who are just as excited as we are about this new journey we have recently embarked on.  It is not surprising, however, that there have been some struggles as well. Among other things, we are often struggling to learn how to balance full-time jobs with a full-time ministry schedule. While we are in the process of trying to decrease our hours in secular work and increase our hours in ministry, our hands are tied until we can figure out our housing situation.  We have reached out to a few churches in the area over the past month seeking missionary housing that may be of use to us as we prepare to raise support and leave for the field. And So It Begins....

It is officially March, and for those of you who have been following our journey into missions, yo u know what that means!     The wait is almost over. On March 19th, Trenton and I will be on a plane headed to International Headquarters for our long-anticipated week-long orientation. There we will be given direction as to what will be expected of us over the next few months to the next few years.      It is a big step for us on our journey onto the field, as we will have most of our finances and training plans set in place. From there, we will be looking for support churches to share our ministry with, so we can use all the prayers we can get!     The past few months have not been easy, as is somewhat expected when attempting to work towards a big change of any sort. Most of our plans at this point are up in the air, which makes it really hard to share them with anybody. However, we trust in the Lord's sovereign will, knowing that His plans are best. ...

The Story God Wrote - The Testimony of Hanna Mae Shields

  I’m not going to pretend as if I have the words to justify it. Truth be told, there’s not a single set of words in our finite language that can explain the miracle of what He has done. Yet, here I am, asking Him to give me the strength to do just that.  I got saved on a Good Friday when I was twelve years old. Our pastor at the time had chosen to preach on the rapture of the church and how that tied into Jesus’ death on the cross for our reconciliation. He began his message with a video of a large congregation in worship on the day of rapture- half of them suddenly taken, the other half left behind. For those left, there was weeping and there was sorrow at the realization of what had taken place. For them, it was to late. And it was in that moment that I realized the urgency and importance of making myself right with God.  That night, I lay in bed tossing and turning. I couldn’t get the thought out of my head.
